    Background

Trump Media and its Truth Social platform were founded by Andy Litinsky and Wes Moss, who were both contestants on then-future President Donald Trump’s reality-television show “The Apprentice.” In 2021, Litinsky and Moss approached then-former President Trump with the idea of creating a new social media platform after Trump was banned by other social media platforms like Twitter following the January 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol. 2

Litinsky and Moss created the company United Atlantic Ventures to create the Truth Social platform without financing from Trump, in exchange for an equity stake in Trump Media. Following several lawsuits between Litinsky and Moss and Trump Media over shares and then the expiration of a lockup agreement barring large shareholders from selling, United Atlantic Ventures sold about 11 million shares of Trump Media and Technology Group in 2024. 3

    Activities

Trump Media created and operates Truth Social, a social media platform that provides an alternative to other mainstream platforms that it claims are suffering from an “assault on free speech” by Big Tech. Truth Social aims to operate as a social media platform based on the principle of free expression.  1 As a presidential candidate from 2022 through 2024 and as president following his inauguration in 2025, President Donald Trump routinely makes public announcements and statements on the platform. 4

Trump Media also operates the streaming platform Truth+. Truth+ provides both on-demand and live TV channels that focus on family-friendly, “non-woke” shows and movies. Truth+ is also the platform for right-of-center news networks like Newsmax, Real America’s Voice, and One America News (OAN).  1

Trump Media has expressed plans to launch a financial services and technology brand called Truth.Fi, which will focus on investments aligned with America First principles.  5

On December 18, 2025, Trump Media announced it would be merging with TAE Technologies to advance “America’s global energy dominance for generations” using fusion power. Trump Media CEO and former U.S. Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) claimed that the merger will create infrastructure that will secure free expression online, lower energy costs, revive U.S. manufacturing, and ensure artificial-intelligence dominance for the U.S. 6

    Founders

Andy Litinsky is a co-founder of ZideLitinsky Media, a former president of Trump Productions, and a former host and producer of the syndicated radio program “America Now.” 7

    Board of Directors

Former U.S. Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) is the chair and CEO of Trump Media, a position he took after resigning from Congress. Nunes was appointed by Donald Trump as the chair of the Intelligence Advisory Board for the second Trump administration. 9

Other members of the board include businessman Eric Swider; President Trump’s son, Donald J. Trump, Jr.; attorney W. Kyle Green, first Trump administration U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer; former U.S. Rep.
