The Stand for Freedom PAC is a super political action committee active in the 2022 midterm election cycle supporting Republican candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives. The group spent $190,000 to promote nine GOP candidates and defeat one Democrat. 1

Background

The Stand for Freedom PAC was launched in March 2022 and spent $190,000 during the 2022 midterm election cycle. 2 3 4 The super PAC targeted nine U.S. House races in 2022, and won five of those targeted. For most of the races, the amount spent was $22,500 each. 5

It spent $185,000 in support of nine Republican candidates, and $5,000 in opposition to one Democrat. 6

The Stand for Freedom PAC raised a total of $282,528 in 2022 and spent a total of $265,956, counting advertising, campaign research and strategy, staffing, administrative costs, and other matters. 7

Jason D. Boles was listed as the treasurer of the Stand for Freedom PAC. 8

Donors

Texas oilman Tim Dunn, the CEO of CrownQuest Operating, contributed $250,000 in October 2022 to the Stand for Freedom PAC, nearly all the money the organization raised in the 2022 cycle. 9 10

The Government Integrity Initiative contributed $20,000 to the Stand for Freedom PAC. 11

MJC Inc. contributed $10,000 to the Stand for Freedom PAC. 12

A Georgia for Georgians contributed $2,500 to the Stand for Freedom PAC. 13

Spending

Shortly before the 2022 midterm election, the Stand for Freedom PAC announced a $180,000 digital ad buy to support eight Republican House candidates. The organization said it would support the candidates who endorsed legislation by Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) to block a provision in the Democrat-passed Inflation Reduction Act that provided $80 billion in additional funding to expand the Internal Revenue Service. 14

The Stand for Freedom PAC announced it was backing the following Republican candidates in 2022: Eli Crane of Arizona, Tom Barrett of Michigan, Max Miller of Ohio, Keith Self of Texas, Mark Alford of Missouri, Jen Kiggans of Virginia, Bo Hines of North Carolina, and Joe Kent of Washington. 15 These candidates received $22,500 in expenditure support each, according to data compiled by OpenSecrets. 16

Open Secrets also reported the PAC spent $5,000 supporting the candidacy of Republican Mark Gonsalves of Georgia, and $5,000 for the defeat of his opponent, U.S. Rep. Lucy McBath (D-GA). 18

Of the candidates targeted by Stand for Freedom PAC, Alford, Crane, Kiggans, Miller, and Self were elected to Congress. Rep. McBath, targeted for defeat, was also elected. 19

The PAC spent $160,000 on web advertising. It spent $34,000 on campaign strategy and research. 20
