Popular Solidarity Brigades Aubervilliers-Pantin, is a French political group and a local affiliate of the Popular Solidarity Brigades. Background

Popular Solidarity Brigades Aubervilliers-Pantin is a French group and local affiliate of the Popular Solidarity Brigades, based in Aubervilliers, Paris, France. The Popular Solidarity Brigades (PSB), formed during the COVID-19 outbreak, is a network of volunteer-led mutual aid groups around France that identify as anti-fascist. Popular Solidarity Brigades state that it and its local affiliates are “acting for self-defense by the people, for the people,” adding that “governments are no solution to the health crisis.” 2 3

PSB states that governments “serve a system based on profit and private interest,” which it claims is the root of the COVID-19 outbreak. The organization also states that it must “focus on denouncing neoliberal policies” that “have demonstrated once again their criminal nature.” 4

Activities

Popular Solidarity Brigades Aubervilliers-Pantin signed the “hidden work campaign,” a strategy to protest the 2024 Olympic Games being held in Paris. The campaign, signed by several groups, asks for members of the public or of said groups to volunteer to help at the Olympic Games only to go on strike to demand payment, engage in slow-working, or refuse to appear on the day. 5

Other groups that have signed onto the campaign include Saccage 2024, the Collective for the Defense of the Gardens of Aubervilliers, and Youth for Climate Île-de-France. 6
