Resistance Boot Camp trains left of center activists to conduct voter registration and get-out-the-vote campaigns. ¹

Overview

Resistance Boot Camp is focused on training activists in voter canvassing, letter writing, post carding, voter registration, and phone and text banking. Canvassing is when members visit potential voters at their homes. Voter registration campaigns seek to register potential voters in heavily Democratic areas. Phone and text banking seeks to reach potential voters via phone calls and text messaging, while letter-writing and post-carding campaigns do the same through those media. The Resistance Boot Camp also trains members to raise money and “signal boost” on social media. ²

Activity

Resistance Boot Camp runs events across the state of California in areas such as Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley, Orange County, and Inland Empire. ³ These events include rallies, speeches from various speakers and training for canvassing, inclusivity in activism, voter registration, and phone/text banking. ⁴

In 2020, Resistance Boot Camp hosted the Training to Win 2020 conference with other left-of-center Democratic-aligned organizations like Democracy Action Fund, Activate America (Flip the West), Swing Left, and Commit to Democracy (Commit to Flip Blue). ⁵ Training to Win 2020 was a virtual conference that focused on helping Democratic activists navigate challenges in field organizing and grassroots caused by COVID-19. It featured a series of training seminars, discussions, and modules on electing Democratic candidates. ⁶ It had appearances from prominent Democratic politicians such as former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Reps. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Karen Bass (D-CA). ⁷

Partnerships

Resistance Boot Camp partners with various left-of-center organizations that are aligned with the Democratic Party such as Swing Left, ⁸ a left-of-center fundraising and voter mobilization political action committee that is aligned with the Democratic Party. The PAC provides fundraising services, information concerning specific districts, connections to Swing Left team members, and canvassing opportunities within competitive districts. ⁹

It also partners with Field Team 6, ¹⁰ a left-of-center pro-Democratic Party get-out-the-vote group focused on swing states in the 2022 midterm elections. ¹¹

It is also partnered with the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the lobbying arm of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. ¹²
