Reproductive Justice Action Milwaukee (RJA-M) is a pro-abortion activist group that leads protests against abortion restrictions in and around Milwaukee, Wisconsin. RJA-M was founded as an affiliate of the Milwaukee Aliant Against Racist and Political Repression, and has co-sponsored events with Students for a Democratic Society. 1

Founding and History

Reproductive Justice Action Milwaukee (RJA-M) was founded in July 2022 in response to the Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization 2 that overturned Roe v. Wade, which had limited state’s powers to regulate or ban abortion. 3

Activism

In August 2022, Reproductive Justice Action Milwaukee led a protest outside of the home of Milwaukee County Supervisor Shawn Rolland. Rolland, a pro-abortion-access member of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, had voted against a proposal which would have subjected Wisconsin’s abortion restrictions to an advisory ballot referendum. 4

The following month, RJA-M marched with Students for a Democratic Society at University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, calling for Milwaukee to be made an “abortion sanctuary.” 5
