The Minnesota Alliance of Peacemakers (MAP) is a coalition of over 70 member groups that focuses on environmental issues, left-of-center foreign and domestic policies, and peacebuilding. 1

Background

The Minnesota Alliance of Peacemakers was founded in 1995 by members of the United Nations Association of Minnesota. 2 MAP’s guiding principles include the belief that peace stems from economic equality and support for nuclear disarmament and a decrease in United States Military spending. 3

Almost half of MAP’s member groups are religious institutions, including Buddhist, Jewish, Christian, and Catholic institutions. 4 5

The Minnesota Alliance of Peacemakers is a member of the We Choose US coalition, with other members including ISAIAH, Main Street Alliance, and the Minnesota branches of the AFL-CIO, Fairvote, League of Women Voters, and Planned Parenthood. 6 The coalition promotes “multiracial democracy” through voter registration campaigns. 7
