The Juniata Watershed People Before Pipelines is a group of individuals living in the Juniata Watershed in southern and central Pennsylvania that opposes the Mariner East Pipeline projects. ¹ The group is independent, only operates on social media, and is not a registered nonprofit, but has been noted as a member of the Better Path Coalition. ²

Background

Mariner East is a series of pipelines constructed and proposed by Energy Transfer to transport natural gas liquids in central and western Pennsylvania. ³

Juniata Watershed People Before Pipelines contends that the project uses eminent domain to take homes and clear woods for the purpose of giving that land to Sunoco to build pipelines and support hydraulic fracturing for natural gas in Pennsylvania.  ²

Organization Structure

The group is independent, appears only to operate on social media, and is not a registered nonprofit. It has been noted as a member of the Better Path Coalition, a coalition of Pennsylvania-based environmentalist groups. ²
