Jamaica Plain Progressives is a left-of-center activist organization that seeks to influence politics in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. All members of its steering committee are required to be dues-paying members of Progressive Mass, one of the primary organizations that seeks to push for far-left legislation and politicians in Massachusetts state politics.

Background

Jamaica Plain Progressives was founded in 2009 to influence local and state politics in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood Boston, Massachusetts. 1 The organization seeks to influence politics along left-of-center and far-left lines, including support for weather-dependent forms of energy and race-centric social policies. 2

Membership

In order for a resident of Jamaica Plain to join the steering committee of Jamaica Plain Progressives, applicants for membership must be registered voters, committed to the left-of-center principles outlined by the organization, and be dues-paying members of Progressive Mass, one of the primary organizations that seeks to push for far-left legislation and politicians in Massachusetts state politics. 3

Leadership

Jamaica Plain Progressives is led by co-chairs Anne (Annie) Rousseau and Ziba Cranmer. 4

Annie Rosseau is the chief financial officer and member of the board of directors of Metro Housing Boston, the primary housing agency for Boston. 5 She holds a Master of Divinity degree from the Episcopal Divinity School. 6 Rousseau is also a commissioner for the Boston Human Rights Commission. 7

Ziba Cranmer is the director of BU SPARK!, an initiative at Boston University that seeks to develop entrepreneurship and innovation in computing. 8 Previously, Cranmer was the director of the sustainable business and innovation lab at Nike. 9
