The Institute on Medicine as a Profession (IMP) was formerly a division based in Columbia University’s Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) established to, “promote medical professionalism a field of study…” ¹ until in 2018, it merged with the Center on Medicine as a Profession (CMAP) division to create the Division of Social Medicine & Professionalism (DSMP). As of 2023, the DSMP promotes and advocates medical health practices and professionalism within the CUIMC. ²
