Dissolved

Indivisible CA-39 (ICA39) was formed post the election of President Donald Trump as part of the Indivisible Project to oppose the Trump Administration agenda by electing Democratic Party members of Congress. [1] The group was disbanded in the face of the breakup of the 39th district based on the 2020 census with its volunteers split amongst other Indivisible groups based on their inclusion in other districts. [2]

ICA39 was a partner of the left-of-center Field Team 6, a Democratic Party field voter registration and mobilization group that claims over 100 member organizations. [3]

Background

Indivisible CA-39 was a left-of-center activism organization that was formed in 2017. It operated under the Indivisible Project umbrella that claims over 6,000 similar organizations formed to resist President Donald Trump’s agenda. [4]

ICA39 operated within the boundaries of California’s 39th Congressional District. The organization is active in promoting Democratic Party candidates for city, state and federal offices including for presidential candidates. [5]

The organization was designed to encourage people to work regardless of the timing of elections to enhance relationships with voters. Their plan included providing guidance and direction for its volunteers to leverage existing and form new relationships via face to face via door-to-door efforts and events while presenting unified messaging on social media, by video, and with postcard mailings. [6]

Status

ICA39 was dissolved due to redistricting that took place based on the 2020 United States Census that resulted in the break-up of the previous 39th Congressional district. Portions of the district were split amongst the 40th, 35th, 38th, 31st, 45th and 46th districts. [7]

The organization’s website continues to partially operate, and its Facebook page is still up. ICA39 posted a map of the parts of the old California 39th district and asked the members of its group to transition to Indivisible CA45 in preparation for the 2022 elections. [8]
