Criminal Defense Investigation Training Council
The Criminal Defense Investigation Training Council (CDITC) is a professional association for private investigators and public defenders founded by private investigator Brandon Perron in 1999. The group primarily conducts training seminars based on Perron’s Component Method of Criminal Defense Investigation. While the group is nonpartisan, former left-of-center organizer Watani Tyehimb sits on its advisory board. 1

The group charges $50 annual fee for members to use the CDITC’s logo in a professional capacity. 2 CDITC certifications include Veritas Knights, Forensic Interviewers, and Forensic Science Investigators. 1
Activities
The Criminal Defense Investigation Training Council (CDITC) provides training seminars taught by group founder Brandon Perron. In addition, CDITC conducts seminars at professional association conferences. In 2025, CDITC conducted seminars at conferences run by the Michigan Council of Professional Investigators, the Professional Private Investigators Association of Colorado, the Florida Public Defender Association, and the New Jersey Licensed Private Investigators Association. 3
If an individual completes one CDITC training program, has two years of investigative experience, receives two letters of recommendation from criminal defense attorneys, and pays CDITC a $225 fee, that person can become a CDITC Board Certified Criminal Defense Investigator. Becoming certified as a CDITC Forensic Interviewer or Forensic Science Investigator requires additional courses, completing a test, and further fees. 4
Leadership
Brandon Perron is the founder and head of the Criminal Defense Investigation Training Council (CDITC). Perron’s brother, Brad, and wife, Amy, are also involved with the group as an executive council officer and advisory board member respectfully. 5 6 1
Prior to the CDITC, Perron was as a criminal investigator with the U.S. Air Force beginning in 1985 as well as a Florida Public Defender Investigator for the Office of the Public Defender, 19th Judicial Circuit. In 1989, Perron founded his own private investigator firm in Florida’s Treasure Coast. 5 6
Watani Tyehimba, the executive director of the Community Aid and Development Corporation, is a member of CDITC’s advisory board. 1 Tyehimba is the founder and owner of his own private investigative and protection service, Tyehimba Services, Inc. 7 8 He is the co-founder of the Afrikan Institute of Martial Arts and a a founding member of the New Afrikan People’s Organization and the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement. 9
