Central Texas Anti-Racist Action is a chapter of Anti-Racist Action (ARA), a radical-left group with chapters in the United States and Canada that is explicitly committed to Antifa ideology, and a founding member of the national Antifa Torch Network. 1
Background
Antifa groups claim inspiration from 1930s radical-left German street protesters opposed to the rising Nazi regime. 2 Modern “black bloc” Antifa surfaced in the 1980s, allegedly to oppose neo-fascist skinhead movements. 2
Central Texas Anti-Racist Action is a chapter of Anti-Racist Action, a radical-left group with chapters in the United States and Canada that is explicitly committed to Antifa ideology. 1
Central Texas ARA is also one of four founding members of the national Torch Antifa Network, along with South Side Chicago ARA, Bloomington and Lafayette HARM, and ARA- LA. 3
Like other Antifa organizations, Central Texas Anti-Racist Action lacks a centralized structure and is secretive about its membership and leadership. There is little available information online about Central Texas Anti-Racist Action. The group has no website and is mentioned in a few news articles. Most online references to the group are on listings of Antifa organizations under the umbrella of ARA or the Torch Network. 3 4
Activity
Writing
Central Texas Anti-Racist Action, under the name “Central Texas ARA” is listed as the author of seven articles on the Torch Network’s website written between September 2019 and October 2023. 5
Its most recent article as of December 2025 is titled “Digital Imperialism from Tel Aviv to Texas.” The article, which was published in late October 2023, describes Israel as “a forward operating base for American imperialism, a military and ideological bulwark for maintaining US domination over Southwest Asia,” as well as “a hub for military and surveillance technology” due to American investment in Israeli defense capabilities. 6
Central Texas ARA’s other six articles identify and dox alleged far-right activists in Texas associated with far-right groups, including Vanguard America, the National Socialist Legion, Patriot Front, and the Proud Boys. 5
Protests
In 2008, Central Texas ARA organized a counter-protest against a demonstration being held by the National Socialist Movement in Tyler, Texas. According to the Anti-Fascist Handbook, Central Texas ARA and numerous other Antifa and far-left groups silenced the far-right protest by building an art installation and chanting “follow your leader,” a slogan suggesting that far-right activists kill themselves like Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler did in 1945. 7
Also according to the Anti-Fascist Handbook, in the late 2000s, female members of Central Texas ARA would employ a tactic of “provoking fascist men into shoving them,” and then using the physical contact to justify more aggressive violent counterattacks until police stopped the encounters. 7
