The Cassie Stern Memorial is a project of International Partners (IP), an advocacy organization that provides goods and services to impoverished communities including healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. 1 The Memorial was created to honor Cassie Stern, who passed away in 2002 due to respiratory complications following a spinal surgery. 2 She was the daughter of former SEIU president Andy Stern and environmental activist Jane Perkins, and according to IP’s website both Stern and Perkins were on the board of directors at the time of her death and that Cassie would have worked for the organization if she had survived. 3 As of March 2023, only Stern is still listed on IP’s board of directors. 4
