Planetary Trust is the grantmaking foundation of environmentalist activist Margie Haley and her husband John. Its 2022 grants included $100,000 to Biomimicry to support its conservation education campaign, $30,200 to the Rocky Mountain Institute in support of its advocacy for the global adoption of environmentalist energy policies, $25,750 to Texas Solar Energy Society to support its advocacy for individuals to adopt solar energy, and a $4,800 grant to Citizens Climate Education to support its advocacy for environmentalist policies. 1 4

People
Margie and John Haley are co-founders of Planetary Trust and Margie Haley serves as its sole trustee. 2 8
Margie Haley is a member of the League of Women Voters, the Sierra Club, the Dallas County Corporate Recycling Council, the Recycling Coalition of Texas, and the Audubon Society. She has also sat as trustee of the Dallas Historic Tree Coalition and co-chair of Sustainable Dallas. 2 Haley has organized “shopping tours” in which she shows groups which items in grocery stores she believes to be harmful to the environment. Additionally, Haley has also organized recycling drives through her home and organized a local conference titled “Sustainability Dallas,” alongside local businesses and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). 9
John Haley is a doctor in the Dallas, Texas area. Margie Haley has also been reported as using the testimony of John Haley and his brothers, who are also doctors, to advocate for the Texas Medical Association to make a public health statement condemning conventional energy, which led to the plans for eight coal plants to be built being canceled. 9 10
