Open Society Foundations – Budapest is a local grantmaking organization created through support by philanthropist George Soros and is a part of his Open Society Foundations (OSF) network. 1 Initially created in 1984, the organization has focused on supporting areas within the country of Hungary including healthcare, the economy, and civil society. In 2018, the organization moved its operations out of the country due to legal restrictions passed by the local government. As of 2022, the organization is operating out of Berlin, Germany. 2 1
