Liberty Alliance USA advocates for right-of-center policy changes in Missouri relating to health care, taxes, and environmentalism, notably opposing the Green New Deal. ¹ Liberty Alliance’s current projects include an interactive Woke Heat Map, Blue Lives Spotlight, and Conservative Chronicles. ²

Activities

Liberty Alliance aims to support Missouri police officers through its Blue Lives Spotlight series. Liberty Alliance claims that the radical left and media have promoted disrespect of police officers. In an effort to support police officers, the Blue Lives Spotlight series reports stories that showcase the positive impact law enforcement has on communities. ³

Liberty Alliance’s Conservative Chronicles series showcases individuals who promote right-of-center values in Missouri. Individuals featured are community leaders, volunteers, and elected officials such as Secretary of State of Missouri Jay Ashcroft (R); ⁴  Susie Moore, the deputy managing editor of the conservative political blog RedState; ⁵ and former teacher Beth Reams. ⁶

Liberty Alliance’s website features its Woke Heat Map, an interactive tool that highlights woke “hotspots,” with links to episodes related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) trainings, teaching about controversial gender ideologies, and alleged use of critical-race-theory-based curricula. ⁷

Funding

Liberty Alliance is funded by undisclosed donations from individuals, foundations, and businesses. According to OpenSecrets, donations were made to Liberty Alliance in the 2018 election in support of Missouri Proposition A from American Democracy Alliance ($350,100 in 2018), Herzog Contracting ($100,000 in 2018), and Richard Uihlein ($100,000 in 2018). ⁸

An August 2022 investigative report by the left-leaning OpenSecrets found that Liberty Alliance is tied to the Stanley M. Herzog Charitable Foundation, a Christian education organization. The report claims that Liberty Alliance has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from organizations connected with the Herzog Charitable Foundation since 2019. OpenSecrets reports that Liberty Alliance USA is a registered fictitious name of Cornerstone 1791, which has received more than $930,000 from American Democracy Alliance and the Missouri Alliance for Freedom since 2019. ⁹

People

Spencer Bone is the executive director of Liberty Alliance. Bone worked as the grassroots director of the Missouri Republican Party during the 2020 election cycle and as the mid-Missouri regional field director of the Missouri Republican Party during the 2018 election cycle. ¹⁰

William J. Greim and James C. Thomas III are both former members of the board, holding the positions of treasurer and deputy treasury, respectively. ¹¹
