The Libertarian Christian Institute (LCI) is religious nonprofit group that promotes libertarianism from a Christian point of view. LCI claims that libertarian ideology is the political philosophy most aligned with Christian ideology. ¹

Projects of the Libertarian Christian Institute include the Christians for Liberty Network and the Christian Libertarian Review. ¹

Activities

The Libertarian Christian Institute (LCI) provides online programs, prints physical publications, and hosts in-person conferences and regional small group meetups to advocate on the connections between Christian and Libertarian ideologies. LCI also has an online database containing articles, book reviews, videos, podcasts, and news reports. ¹

LCI claims to provide Christian perspectives on policy issues including abortion, nationalism, marriage, war, immigration, and taxation. The group also provides articles and other pieces of media discussing different viewpoints on said policy topics. ²

The Christians for Liberty Network is a project of LCI that provides podcasts and other media that claims to promote libertarianism from different Christian-leaning perspectives. The Network includes podcasts like the Protestant Libertarian Podcast, the Biblical Anarchy Podcast, the Reformed Libertarians Podcast, the Faith Ventures Podcast, and the Libertarian Christian Podcast. Topics of discussion include technology and innovation, politics, interpretations of the Bible, and patriotism. ³

The Christian Libertarian Review (CLR) is an interdisciplinary journal and project of the LCI that claims to promote discussion and research on the connections between Christian and Libertarian thought. ⁴

Funding

The Libertarian Christian Institute is funded by donations from individuals, foundations, and businesses. While LCI does not disclose its donors, tax filings confirm donations from the Joel and Rachel Bomgar Foundation ($12,000 in 2019) ⁵ and the National Christian Charitable Foundation ($9,800 in 2022). ⁶

Leadership

Dr. Norman Horn is the founder and executive director for the Libertarian Christian Institute (LCI). He is a co-author of the LCI publication Faith Seeking Freedom and has written publications for Young American Revolution, Students for Liberty, LewRockwell.com, the Washington Post, and Relevant Magazine. ⁷
