Jerusalem Institute of Justice (JIJ) is a legal and research organization based in Jerusalem, Israel, focused on democracy, human rights, and freedom of religion in Israel and the Middle East. JIJ is supported in the United States by JIJ USA, which is based in Dallas, Texas. 1

Jerusalem Institute of Justice advocates for the legitimacy of the State of Israel, provides free legal aid to non-Jewish ethnic and religious minorities, and opposes sex trafficking and prostitution in Israel. 2

Activities

Jerusalem Institute of Justice advocates for Israel and focuses its research on human rights abuses, especially those related to the Palestinian Authority, Hamas, and Islamic terrorism. JIJ’s efforts focus on exposing the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement as harmful to Palestinians, educating the public about bias against Israel within the United Nations, and researching modern antisemitism. 3

In Israel, JIJ provides free legal aid to non-Jewish ethnic and religious minorities in an effort to protect civil rights and religious freedoms. To date, JIJ has handled 1,300 legal cases and has won 25 cases in the Supreme Court of Israel. JIJ’s cases are typically related to family unification, immigration, and affirmative action. 4

JIJ’s Project NOA (Not Objects Anymore) opposes sex trafficking and prostitution in Israel. JIJ likens prostitution to modern-day slavery, and its Project NOA intends to change the public perception of this issue through education, social media campaigns, and collaborations with the community. Project NOA advocates for the adoption of the Swedish model, which would criminalize the buyer of sex services as opposed to the provider. Project NOA claims that the Swedish model would protect those providing sex services, as those individuals are often victims of trafficking. 5

GDC Israel is JIJ’s hands-on, four-month long internship program for individuals aged 18-30, focused on strengthening international pro-Israel advocacy efforts. The program focuses on building practical, diplomatic skills, networking with political activists, and exploring social activism. The program is designed to connect interns with the history and culture of Israel. 6
