The Jenny Jones Foundation is a center-left grantmaking organization that provides financial support to first-responder organizations such as volunteer fireman and organizations that combat recidivism. The Jenny Jones Foundation was created in 2005 by Canadian-American talk-show host Jenny Jones. 1

Finances

In 2018, the Jenny Jones Foundation received $117,698 in total revenue,2 incurred $110,274 in expenses,3 and possessed $13,846 in net assets. 4

Grantmaking

The Jenny Jones Foundation supports first responder organizations. In 2018, the foundation contributed to the Laurentian Hills Fire Department ($5,112), Nolalu Emergency Services Team ($22,442), Papineau-Cameron Fire Department ($4,503), Pellatt United Firefighters ($5,658), Redditt Volunteer Fire Department ($1,734), and the Wabigoon Fire Department ($2,240). 5

Anti-Recidivism Coalition

In 2018, the Jenny Jones Foundation also contributed $58,500 to the Anti-Recidivism Coalition, a left-leaning charity and advocacy group based in Los Angeles, California. The Anti-Recidivism Coalition participates in the Check the Sheriff Coalition, a group composed of many left-of-center organizations, including the National Lawyers Guild-LA and Black Lives Matter-LA. The coalition seeks to substantially curtail law enforcement’s ability to combat crime by requiring that an independent office within the Los Angeles County Police Department (LAPD) investigate allegations against police officers, require sensitivity training for police officers, and impose disciplinary measures against police officers. 6 The coalition has referred to LAPD deputy police officers as “deputy gang members”7 and claims that police officers harass the families of individuals shot by LAPD. 8

On May 10, 2021, the Check the Sheriff Coalition, along with other organizations, delivered a letter to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, requesting that a United Nations report on “systemic racism, violations of international human rights law against Africans and people of African descent by law enforcement agencies” in the United States take into account alleged “root causes that have enabled systemic racism and police violence, including the legacies of enslavement, the transatlantic trade in enslaved Africans, and its context of colonialism.” 9

Leadership

Jenny Jones is the president of the Jenny Jones Foundation. Between 1991 and 2003, she was the host of the “Jenny Jones Show.” 10
