Impact100 Martin is a grantmaking organization consisting of female members based in Martin County, Florida that raises funds from its members’ annual membership dues. Background
Founded in 2017, Impact100 Martin is a women’s grantmaking group and is the Martin County, Florida affiliate of the Impact100 network. It consists of a female membership whose dues are structured to be the funding source for its grantmaking. From 2017 through 2026, it reported disbursing over $2.9 million in grants to nonprofit organizations in Martin County, Florida. 4
Impact100 Martin’s name resembles its funding model where it originated as having 100 members that contribute a minimum of $1,100 so that it can make grants in the amount of $100,000. According to its tax returns, the extra $100 in its membership dues is to fund “operating expenses,” and each member is reported to have a vote in determining grant recipients. 5
In 2025, Impact100 Martin reported receiving $564,835 in membership dues, which made up 93.8 percent of its total revenue, and it reported disbursing over $678,436 in grants. 6
Of its $402,997 in total expenses in 2024, $306,999 or 76.1 percent was spent on grants paid. 7
Grantmaking
Impact100 Martin funding strategy is advertised as structuring its membership dues to so that “the minimum grant awarded is $100,000.” According to its tax returns, and Impact100 Martin’s grants webpage, it has stated that it “annually awards at least one grant of $100,000 to a nonprofit that provides services for Martin County.” 89
Impact100 Martin’s reported grants ranged from $33,000 and $80,000 in 2023, from $7,333 and $75,000 in 2024, and $5,000 and $100,000 in 2025. 10
Impact100 Martin requires grant applicants to apply for exactly $100,000 in funding and allows for programs and projects to be phased out over three years. While it requires that applicants apply for the full $100,000 grants, its frequently asked questions page clarified that not all grantees are awarded the $100,000 “Impact Grant.” 1112
In 2025, Impact100 Martin made a $100,000 grant to Friends of the Everglades for its Young Friends of the Everglades program that provides schools with educational programming discussing the Florida Everglades and in alignment with Friends of the Everglades’ conservation advocacy. The Young Friends of the Everglades program provides teachers and students with resources for lessons on the Florida Everglades that are designed to garner support for conservation efforts. 213
In 2025, Impact100 Martin made a $50,000 grant to the Ocean Research and Conservation Association to fund a research project that claimed to analyze the transfer of pollutants from Martin County to fish that are commonly consumed. The granted description stated that the program will conduct research by analyzing purported pollutant levels in captured fish surrounding Martin County. 2

Retired financial advisor and travel planner Sue Whittington was the president of Impact100 Martin as of July 2026. Whittington previously worked for Morgan Stanley from 2006 before retiring in 2024, and before that she worked as the chief development officer for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County. 1415

Impact Grant – Security and Safety Upgrades at martin County Domestic Violence Shelter. This grant will have a transformational impact on SafeSpaces emergency shelter located within Martin County. It will greatly improve the security and safety of the women and children who are temporarily residing there. Abusive partners often attempt to locate survivors by stalking them at their place of employment childrens schools and doctors appointments. With this grant SafeSpace will be able to upgrade the security cameras monitors and fence at its emergency shelter and make improvements to the kitchen and playground that will significantly impact the security comfort and independence of survivors of intimate partner violence and their children.
Impact Grant – Everglades Edudome Experience: Young Friends of the Everglades. The Everglades Edudome Experience will be the first immersive virtual tour of the Everglades delivered right to schools. Inside a portable dome students are surrounded by a breathtaking 360-degree film that brings to life the sights and sounds of the Everglades. Outside the dome professional educators guide students to explore authentic animal artifacts and travel atop an enormous map of Florida that illustrates Martin Countys connection to the Greater Everglades ecosystem. The Edudome will be shared at community events and with local nonprofits to ensure a far-reaching impact in Martin County.

Impact Grant – Buildup: Empowering Martin Countys Next Generation of Skilled Workers. Project LIFTs program will empower at-risk young adults with industry-recognized certifications in small equipment operations filling a critical workforce gap. The ARC of the Treasurer Coast Caring Cafe is a new on the job training program for individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities featuring employment training and coaching singly focused on the success of each trainee. Impact Grant – One Health Fish Monitoring Citizen Science Program. The One Health Fish Monitoring Project is an innovative science-research project that aims to better understand the transfer of pollutants from Martin County waterways to fish commonly consumed by humans. The data gathered from this project will help us better understand the potential human health risk exposure to these pollutants has on Martin County residents as well as arm the community with unbiased data in the fight for clean water.

Impact Grant – Walk-In Assessment Center. The request is to be used to implement a pilot program in Martin County for a walk-in behavioral health clinic serving minors in need of immediate behavioral health appointments. This would serve youth and their families asking for a same day appointment to establish care for mental health needs. The need to provide timely support for behavioral health is missing in Martin County. While planning this pilot program much has been learned from the challenges and successes of a similar program offered to the youth of Indian River County. Impact Grant – Elder Care Mobile Outreach Program. Many of our low-income underserved seniors face social isolation and loneliness to higher risks for a variety of physical and mental conditions: high blood pressure heart disease obesity a weakened immune system anxiety depression cognitive decline Alzheimers disease and even death. Seniors often suffer silently and many do not ask for help or know where to go for assistance. Our mobile outreach program is designed to meet seniors in their own neighborhoods relieving some of the stigma of asking for help and connecting them to resources needed to gain better health outcomes and quality of life.
