Global Jewry

Background

Global Jewry was founded in the summer of 2023 to “secure the Jewish future” by collaborating with hundreds of partner organizations to broaden their reach and build relationships. ² The group works across Jewish denominations and internationally. ²

Programming

The group runs a program called Amitim, which pairs former CEOs of Jewish Federations to assist Israeli nonprofits with effective governance, efficiency, and “long term thinking.” ³

Global Jewry partners with hundreds of other Jewish organizations, including left-of-center advocacy groups, universities, museums, news outlets, city-level Jewish Federations, counter-antisemitism groups, and social-services groups. ⁴

Financials

In 2024, Global Jewry reported a revenue of $172,538 and total expenses of $126,987. ⁵

The Oklahoma-based Coretz Family Foundation gave $7,500 in 2024. ⁶ A $7,500 grant was also given through the Pennsylvania-based National Philanthropic Trust in the fiscal year ending in June 2024. ⁷ The California-based Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation gave $5,000 in 2024. ⁸ The Sharna and Irvin Frank Foundation, also based in Oklahoma, gave $2,500 in 2024. ⁹

Leadership

Sanford “Sandy” Cardin founded Global Jewry. ¹⁰ He previously worked for the Jerusalem Foundation and the left-of-center Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation and has been involved in the JCC Association of North America. ¹¹

As of December 2025, Brina Chu managed Global Jewry’s engagement, Andrew Exler managed its marketing and branding, and Melissa Levine managed its “Operations and Systems.” ¹⁰ Seven of the nine people listed under “our team,” including Chu, Exler, and Levine, are fellows of the group. ¹⁰

Chu was previously the manager of community strategy for Jewish Federations of North America’s (JFNA) Israel Action Network and Jewish equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives. ¹²

Global Jewry has an advisory board of over 900 members, of which six are co-chairs. ^{13  1}
