Global Impact Ventures (GIV) was created in 2023 as an umbrella organization for four organizations related to left-of-center grantmaker, philanthropic consultancy, and service provider Global Impact. 1

GIV’s subsidiary organizations are the 501(c)(3) Global Impact, for-profit consultancy Geneva Global, 501(c)(3) international fiscal sponsor and grantmaker Capital for Good, and the 501(c)(4) advocacy group GI Social Welfare Fund. 2 3

GIV is not related to Global Impact, Inc., which operates the Child Hope International organization connecting children in orphanages to living family members, or the Global Impact Investing Network membership organization, which promotes environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing. 4

Global Impact

See: Global Impact

Global Impact is a left-of-center charitable nonprofit organization that provides philanthropy-related services to other nonprofits, foundations, donor collaboratives, corporations, and governments. 1 These include the operation of workplace giving programs for the federal government and major corporations, as well as the fiscal sponsorship of more than 120 nonprofit organizations. 5 6 7

As a fiscal sponsor of nonprofits and an administrator of donor-advised funds, Global Impact can obscure the flow of money from donors to ultimate recipients, as well as allow organizations that would not otherwise pass the Internal Revenue Service’s “public support” test to do so. 7

GI Social Welfare Fund

See: GI Social Welfare Fund

The Global Impact Social Welfare Foundation, commonly referred to as the GI Social Welfare Fund, is a left-of-center advocacy and grantmaking organization. 8 It supports organizations that promote “climate and environment, justice reform, global health, voter rights, economic development, and racial and gender equality.” 8

The GI Social Welfare Fund received its 501(c)(4) tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service in 2023. 9 It reported receiving $22,480,002 in grants that year, including $8,945,526 from Global Impact. 9 10

Geneva Global

In 2019, Global Impact acquired philanthropic consultancy Geneva Global, which is a for-profit company incorporated in Delaware and headquartered in Pennsylvania. 11 12

It claims to have “raised or influenced” more than $3.5 billion in charitable giving across more than 100 countries. 13

Geneva Global participates in B Lab’s “B Corps” certification program that commits it to left-of-center governance structures and corporate values on topics such as environmental, social, and governance (ESG) activism and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). 13

Capital for Good USA

Capital for Good USA is a fiscal sponsor and consultancy for smaller and startup international nonprofits fundraising in the United States. 14 It also operates donor-advised funds for philanthropists supporting foreign nonprofits. 15

In 2023, Capital for Good reported $12,047,306 in revenues, $6,189,023 in expenses, and $41,518,911 in net assets. 16 It made $2,887,938 in grants that year, all but $52,000 of which went to recipients outside the United States. 16
