The Frieda C. Fox Family Foundation is a left-of-center private grantmaking foundation that supports activist incubator groups in the Los Angeles and Santa Cruz Counties of California, environmentalist organizations, the arts and sciences, and homeless shelters. 1
History
Frieda C. Fox Foundation was created in 1999 by Alan C. Fox, the owner of ACF Property Management, a billion-dollar business created in 1968. Alan C. Fox is also the author of the New York Times bestseller People Tools: 54 Strategies for Building Relationships, Creating Joy, and Embracing Prosperity. 2

In 2019, the Frieda C. Fox Foundation received $164,433 in investment income 3 and $114,755 in total revenue. 4 The same year, the Foundation incurred $208,722 in expenses 5 and possessed $4,817,976 in net assets. 6
Grantmaking
Activist Organizations
The Frieda C. Fox Foundation supports several organizations that incubate and support the growth of youth-led left-of-center activism. This includes organizations such as Khmer Girls in Action that claims that national level policies in the United States “attack immigrants, people of color, poor families, women, and young people,” 7 and Community Coalition, a race-focused social policy organization that opposes drug enforcement activities and advocates for more government welfare spending. 8
In 2019 the foundation supported the Asian Youth Center ($1,000), Community Coalition ($1,000), EmpowHer Institute ($1,000), Khmer Girls in Action ($1,000), the LA LGBT Center ($1,000), Community Partners ($1,000), and the Youth Mentoring Action Network ($1,000). 9
Environmentalist Organizations
In 2019, Frieda C. Fox Foundation supported Algalita Marine Research ($1,000), a left-of-center environmentalist organization that opposes the use of plastic products. Algalita Marine Research operates by attempting to dissuade the youth from purchasing plastic products and advocates for the Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act, a bill that would substantially limit access to single-use plastic products such as stirrers, straws, and utensils. 10

In 2019 the Frieda C. Fox Foundation supported Southern California Grantmakers ($1,000), an organization that spent $2,843,730 in 2019 on educational meetings to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of left-of-center nonprofit organizations. 11

Fox Foundation supported a variety of organizations devoted to the arts and early childhood education, including Access Books ($20,000), Discovery Cube LA ($10,000), West Valley Boys and Girls Club ($10,000), Woodcraft Rangers ($10,000), 24th Street Theatre Company ($1,000), Venice Arts ($1,000), DIY Girls ($1,000), Food What?! ($1,000), No Limits for Deaf Children ($1,000), Taking the Reins ($1,000), and Arts Council of Santa Cruz County ($1,000). 9
