Earth Mama Healing Network

Background

Earth Mama Healing is a consulting firm founded in 2011 and, according to filings with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), was initially incorporated as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization in April 2021 by Rolanda Wilkins, who was based in Sacramento, California. Its status was then revoked in September 2023. In June 2024, the organization was re-recognized, with its same tax identification number reinstated. It was re-opened by the same Rolanda Wilkins. ^{1 2}

Activities

In 2023, right-of-center watchdog group Defending Education released a report claiming that the Elk Grove Unified School District in Sacramento, California had paid Earth Mama Healing for programs and additional services. ^{3 4 5 6 7}

According to documents reviewed by Defending Education, in 2022 the Elk Grove school district had paid Earth Mama Healing Network $125,000 for “targeted equity services prioritizing students who identify as Black/African American” and for “engag[ing] female students.” Additional documents claimed that from February through June 2022, Earth Mama Healing had also provided discussions on “stereotypes, inequality,” and “how to maintain self-identity, self-respect, and integrity.”  ^{3 8}

In 2023, Earth Mama Healing Network had allegedly received another contract with Elk Grove School District for promoting “educational equity” programs intended to “conduct biweekly empowerment sessions involving groups of young girls” and to “empow[er] African American/Black youth and equip them with the necessary tool sand [sic] support to thrive beyond adolescence.” Earth Mama was paid $92,000 for these services, which lasted from December 2023 to June 2024. ^{9 10}
