E Pluribus Unum Films is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 2000 to produce educational documentary and dramatic programming for television. 1 E Pluribus Unum Films’ current programs include Economic Thinking, which provides education on the principles of economics and public policy, and LibertyFlix, which promotes films about liberty. 2

Economic Thinking

Economic Thinking (ET) was launched by E Pluribus Unum Films in 2003 to educate students about the principles of economics and public policy, especially as it concerns economic freedom, property rights, and the rule of law. ET’s programs include workshops, publications, and study guides. 3

Economic Thinking hosts workshops and guest talks to connect students to scholars from free-market organizations. ET works with debate and speech students to influence a larger number of high school and college students. Economic Thinking’s website provides references for economic debate topics that include criminal justice, education policy, federal election law reform, and the economics of freedom and equality. 4 ET’s website also provides study guides for debate topics such as the economics of space exploration, immigration reform, and labor law. 5

Economic Thinking’s program, Economics in a Box, is a semester-long economics course for homeschool students. Based on the textbook Common Sense Economics, the curriculum explains economic principles related to prosperous societies, job creation, innovations in products and services, and government programs and policies that fail. 6

LibertyFlix

LibertyFlix is a website that recommends films about liberty to promote the educational benefit of viewing dramatic and documentary films that address issues of both economic and political freedom. 7 LibertyFlix claims that liberty is the most fundamental human right and seeks to maintain this right by providing recommendations for films that help individuals understand how freedom has been lost, restored, and needs to be fostered. 8 As LibertyFlix only provides recommendations, films must be rented or purchased elsewhere. 9

Funding

E Pluribus Unum Films is funded by donations from individuals, foundations, and businesses. While E Pluribus Unum Films does not disclose its donors, tax filings confirm donations from the Foundation for Economic Education ($35,107 in 2009), 10DonorsTrust ($35,000 in 2019), 11 and the Atlas Economic Research Foundation ($7,500 in 2020). 12
