Be Good to Kids LLC is a right-of-center nonprofit organization that opposes schools teaching critical race theory and advocates for school choice. ¹

In September 2023, Be Good to Kids LLC ran an advertising campaign with a commercial of a father denouncing critical race theory and including a teacher from Milwaukee Public Schools teaching materials she described as “the subject of critical race theory.” ²

Background

Founded in 2023, Be Good to Kids LLC is a right-of-center nonprofit organization that supports school choice and opposes schools teaching critical race theory. In September 2023, Be Good to Kids LLC launched an ad campaign that condemned the teaching of critical race theory for being divisive and setting low expectations for minorities. It also used a video of a teacher from Milwaukee promoting critical race theory and a father discussing critical race theory to say it “needs to stop.” ^{3 4}

Be Good to Kids LLC was registered by Langdon Law LLC (Langdon Law), a law firm owned by David Langdon. Landon Law is known for registering right-of-center nonprofit organizations and limited liability companies that engage in political advocacy. According to a 2015 report by the left-leaning Center for Public Integrity, Langdon Law LLC worked with at least 11 conservative organizations between 2010 and 2015 that spent over $22 million on federal and state elections as well as ballot initiatives. ^{5 6}

Advertising Campaign Against Critical Race Theory

In September 2023, Be Good to Kids LLC launched an advertising campaign in Wisconsin that featured a father and his child discussing why they believe critical race theory (CRT) is problematic and contrasts it with a video posted by a Milwaukee public school teacher who is reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Pan-African flag with her class. ⁷ In the commercial, the father, Kory, expresses with his daughter that she can be “anything” she wants to be and clarifies that race or color does not impact that. He goes on to say critical race theory needs to be stopped to prevent children from thinking otherwise as he asserts children are loving and do not “see color.” ⁸

Following the release of the advertising campaign, local media company WISN-TV claimed that the commercial resulted in Angela Harris, who was the teacher featured in the commercial, being “doxxed” due to alleged “misinformation” in the commercial. The article claimed that Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) “rebuked” the commercial, stating that it did not teach critical race theory. Harris and MPS claim the video of her are taken out of context as Harris claims that she is not teaching critical race theory but is instead teaching “the subject of critical race theory.” ⁹

Langdon Law LLC

Be Good to Kids LLC does not disclose the identities of its employees, funders, or founders. ¹⁰ It is a registered limited liability company in the state of Ohio and was registered by Langdon Law LLC, which advertises it specializes in political, election, nonprofit, and constitutional law. Landon Law is known for registering major right-of-center nonprofit and for-profit advocacy groups. It is reported that as of September 2023, it had registered 71 limited liability companies and nonprofits for the year. ¹¹
