The American Public Transportation Foundation is the charitable arm of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA). The APTF awards scholarships to those who are pursuing a career in the public transit field.

History

APTF was founded in 1988. Since then it has awarded over $1.5 million in scholarships to over 350 students. APTF awards scholarships to both public transit professionals and undergraduate students considering a career in public transportation. 1

Leadership

The officers of the APTF are the chair, vice chair, secretary-treasurer, and president and CEO. The secretary-treasurer and the president and CEO are those serving in those capacities in the American Public Transportation Association. The officers are elected by APTA Board of Directors. 2

The officers are: Jannet M. Walker-Ford (chair), Katharine Eagan Kelleman (vice chair), Freddie C. Fuller II (secretary-treasurer), and Paul P. Skoutelas (president and CEO). 3

APTF has a 25-member board of directors. 4
