Affinity Legacy

History and Background

Affinity Legacy, Inc. was initially founded in 1986 as Bronx Health Plan, a New York City-based healthcare provider that later changed its name to Affinity Health Plan. In October 2021, the group changed its name to Affinity Legacy Inc. following its acquisition by Molina Healthcare.  ^{3  4}

In 2022, the group established the Affinity Legacy Community Grant Program, which was funded through a portion of the proceeds from its purchase by Molina Healthcare, to conduct grantmaking instead of providing direct insurance coverage. ^{2 5}

Activities

Affinity Legacy primary activity is providing grants and funding through its Community Grant Program, which was established in 2022 through proceeds from its previous purchase by Molina Healthcare. The Program provides grants to New York counties for mental health services, food insecurity, services for previously incarcerated individuals, and workforce education. Proposed grantees are listed and must be approved by the organization’s board of directors before it seeks approval from the state Attorney General’s Charities Bureau. ^{6 7}

The Grant Program also provides funding to state education programs, housing, employment opportunities, and opposition to environmental hazards. Its Community Grant Program has also funded state organizations providing mental health and addiction recovery services within New York City. ^{1 8}

In April 2026, Affinity Legacy announced a partnership with Resilia, a nonprofit networking service based in New Orleans, to provide coaching services and fundraising education programs to help support their advocacy efforts. ⁹

Leadership

As of 2026, Clara Hansen is the executive director of Affinity Legacy, a position she has held since 2021. Prior to her appointment, Hansen held the position of vice president and chief of staff for corporate planning and initiatives at Affinity Health Plan. ¹⁰
