Teak Media is a B Corporation, a certification given by the nonprofit B Lab, which aims to measure the environmental and social impact of a business from a left-of-center perspective using the “stakeholder” language of the broader environmental, social, and governance (ESG) movement.  2  1

    Background

Teak Media and Communications is a left-of-center for-profit public relations consulting and communications firm. Teak Media claims that its services are “exclusively for nonprofit organizations, CSR [corporate social responsibility] initiatives and responsible brands.” The group promotes “Conscious Capitalism,” including claiming to have been a founding member of Conscious Capitalism’s Boston chapter. The group states that businesses have “an obligation to serve others and the planet,” including addressing societal issues such as “the climate crisis, poverty, racism, inferior education systems, and corrupt healthcare.”  3  1

Teak Media also promotes the critical race theory-influenced concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion, insisting that these concepts are a hallmark of how its clients “run their organizations from leadership choices to serving their audiences; moreover, Teak Media asserts it is “working toward the day when the Teak staff is racially representative of the clients we serve.”  1
