Background

Inter CPA LLC is an accounting firm founded by Jesus Pizzaro, a member of the board of the Sunrise Movement Education Fund. The firm is focused on advising nonprofits on tax and regulatory policy. The firm promotes environmental, social, and governance financial planning. 1 2

Additionally, Inter CPA LLC is focused on integrating artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, and “behavior sciences” in its operations. The firm is also focused on environmental concerns, recommending organizations to join “coalitions and networks pushing for equitable energy transition policies,” in reference to how nonprofits should navigate proposed tax and regulatory changes proposed by the second Trump administration. 1 3

Activities

In 2025, Inter CPA LLC posted an entry on its blog titled “No Tax on Tips: A Misguided Policy that Hurts Workers and Social Security.” In the entry, Inter CPA argued that tips are structurally built into the paychecks of many wage-based employees, and as such is not “‘the icing on the cake’; it’s often the cake itself.” Furthermore, Inter CPA argued that this could cause businesses to begin to shift more towards having customers pay service industry workers’ wages to avoid taxation. Inter CPA argued that this shift could result in a Social Security funding gap of hundreds of billions of dollars. 4

Also in 2025, Inter CPA posted an article called “Due Process: The Human Right That Protects All Taxpayers—No Matter Their Immigration Status.” Inter CPA states that “[m]illions of immigrants—regardless of legal status—pay federal, state, and local taxes. They help fund public infrastructure, schools, and services. Yet, they are often left out of conversations around taxpayer protections.” 4

Inter CPA opposes reducing the size of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), arguing that a downsizing of the agency would result in a loss of government revenue. The firm argues that a streamlining of tax policies should be centered around updating online tax filing services instead. Additionally, Inter CPA recommends that the IRS should shift its culture from “an FBI-style enforcement agency” to a “a Small Business Administration-style organization” geared towards helping businesses navigate their taxes. 5

In response to the second Trump administration’s proposed tax updates in 2025, Inter CPA recommends nonprofits take a more cautious approach to avoid supporting listed terrorist groups; under the proposed laws, a nonprofit could be stripped of its tax-exempt status for doing so. As Inter CPA states, “[n]onprofits must now exercise heightened diligence in monitoring affiliations and partnerships, as even indirect or unintentional support could jeopardize their tax-exempt status.” 6
