Background
Home for Homies is a company that provides housing services. The group states that it focuses on “those with low income, criminal backgrounds, and people of color.” Home for Homies started primarily as a property manager but claims to have also moved into real estate development. As of March 2026, the group claims to manage seven units across three properties. 1
Jamael Lundy, the company’s founder, claims that “refusing to discriminate against criminal and credit backgrounds is not a social service, it’s a competitive advantage.” The company states that Lundy is its “progressive black founder,” and claims that housing is a human right. 1

Jamael Lundy is the founder of Home for Homies. Lundy campaigned for Minnesota’s Senate District 65, covering much of St. Paul, as a member of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, the state affiliate of the national Democratic Party; he was defeated for the party endorsement at the party’s convention and did not contest the primary election. 2 3
Lundy worked as Intergovernmental Affairs Coordinator in Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty’s office. He is married to Saint Paul City Councilwoman Anika Bowie. 4 2
In 2026, Lundy was accused in a federal indictment of violating the FACE Act after allegedly disrupting a church’s Sunday service to protest federal immigration policy. 5 The indictment alleged that Lundy, along with a group of around 20 to 40 others including journalist Don Lemon “entered the Church in a coordinated takeover-style attack and engaged in acts of oppression, intimidation, threats, interference, and physical obstruction.” 6
