Activities and Funding

Lillian’s List Foundation is a foundation associated with the left-progressive and pro-abortion Lillian’s List Action Fund 17 18 that is tasked with developing a strong pipeline of left-progressive women to run for office at the local level in North Carolina. 19 20

Lillian’s List Foundation operates the “Elect Women of Color Training Institute,” 21 future candidate training, campaign training, and the “Win Locally” program, which recruits and trains women to run at the local level of government for county commissioner, city council, and school board positions. 22 23

The “Elect Women of Color Training Institute” looks to identify minority women to run for office in the next one to three years. Programming includes sessions on campaigning, personal narrative building, abortion, and fundraising. 24 The program’s slide shows include a slide entitled “Black Reproductive Justice Policy Agenda” that includes support for an end to all federal restrictions on abortion coverage and elimination of funding for crisis pregnancy centers. Other slides in the program’s agenda call for reparations for African Americans, universal basic income, the critical race theory-influenced concept of reproductive justice, and other left-progressive policies. 25

Lillian’s List Foundation’s Training Institute also contains fundraising slide decks from the pro-abortion EMILY’s List  26 and resources from the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights to frame discussions on the critical race theory-inspired concept of “reproductive justice.” 27

Lillian’s List Foundation operates the “Win Locally” program to introduce candidates to the roles and responsibilities of local government positions such as county commission, city council, and school board. 28

The foundation also operates a campaign camp that trains field organizers, polling, volunteer management, and campaign professionals for careers in North Carolina politics. 29 As of 2021, the campaign camp has trained at least 124 left-progressive campaign staffers. The Lillian’s List Foundation reports that 78 percent of these graduates are working in left-progressive campaigns in North Carolina. 30

Lillian’s List Foundation is also a partner of the Equal Rights Amendment-North Carolina (ERA-NC) Alliance. 31

Funding

Lillian’s List Foundation is funded by individual contributions. 32 In 2020, Lillian’s List Foundation received a $25,000 grant from the Morris Family Foundation. 33
