Arizona Blue 2020 (usually written as AZ Blue 2020, also known as Turning Arizona Blue! 2020 1) was an Arizona PAC dedicated to flipping the Arizona state legislature to Democratic control in 2020. The organization was ultimately unsuccessful, as Republicans retained a two-seat majority in the state Senate and a three-seat majority in the state House.

AZ Blue 2020 is defunct as of early 2022. The organization’s website is offline, and its Facebook group hasn’t made a new post since September 2020, though it did add two new photos in January 2022. 2 The PAC reported no revenue or expenditures since the end of 2020. 3

Expenditure

From 2017 to the end of 2020, Arizona Blue 2020 spent $27,449, primarily on independent expenditures. Its largest political beneficiaries were the Arizona Democratic Party and the Protecting Arizona’s Family Coalition. 4

Funding

From 2017 to the end of 2020, Arizona Blue 2020 raised $23,921, about half of which came through ActBlue, a major Democratic fundraising platform. 5 6

Coalitions

AZ Blue 2020 is listed as a partner of Field Team 6, a national Democratic get-out-the-vote group. 7

In October 2018, AZ Blue 2020 was a partner at an event funded by Indivisible AZ, Desert Progressives, and Optimists Resist. 8
