 Robin Bruce is the daughter of David Weekley, the founder of David Weekley Homes, one of the largest homebuilders in the United States. Bruce is the current president of the David Weekley Family Foundation, a nonprofit with more than $15 million in total revenue in 2019.

Early Life

Bruce earned a B.A. from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from the Acton School of Business based in Austin, Texas. 1 Taught by successful entrepreneurs rather than traditional academics, the Acton School of Business is a non-traditional MBA program that focuses less on traditional business principles, such as accounting and marketing, and more on the “entrepreneurial cycle.” 2 She graduated from the Acton School of Business in 2010, 3 the same year she earned an entrepreneurial award from the Texas Business Hall of Fame. 4

Career

Bruce is the president of the David Weekley Family Foundation, 5 a nonprofit organization that reported more than $15 million in total revenue in 2019. 6 The David Weekley Foundation is a faith-based foundation with a focus on grantmaking to alleviate poverty. It was founded by Bruce’s father, David Weekley, in 1990. 7 Before joining the David Weekley Family Foundation, Bruce was the CEO of her alma mater, the Acton School of Business, for four years. She used her business background to write several articles on entrepreneurship for Forbes. 8

In 2019 9 and 2020, 10 Bruce was a delegate at the Skoll World Forum, a project of the left-of-center Skoll Foundation, a grantmaking organization. 11

Earlier in her career, Bruce was a Presidential Leadership Scholar, a project of the Bush Institute, where she developed a personal leadership project around advancing the Acton School of Business to better-serve underserved communities through a “blended learning entrepreneurial education program.” 12

Personal Life

Robin Bruce is the daughter of Bonnie Weekley and David Weekley, the founder of David Weekley Homes in 1976. David Weekley Homes is headquartered in Houston, Texas, and is one of the largest home builders in the United States. 13 The company has expanded to more than a dozen cities across the United States and has sold over 100,000 homes. Weekley has also been applauded for his community outreach efforts. 14

Bruce lives in Austin, Texas with her two sons and her husband Taylor. 15
