Political Action Committee

Together We Elect (formerly Together for 2020) is a political action committee that promotes Democratic candidates for Congress and coordinates various texting, letter writing, phone banking, and other get-out-the-vote efforts. The group works  alongside other Democratic vote projects including Field Team 6, Swing Left, Force Multiplier, Activate America, and the Movement Voter Project. [1]

Background

Together We Elect was formed as a political action committee called Together for 2020, which focused on coordinating get-out-the-vote efforts to support Democrats in key congressional races and to support the 2020 Democratic presidential ticket of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. [2]

In 2021, the organization announced that it would continue operations under the name Together We Elect, citing a need to focus Democratic activist energy on preserving the Democratic majorities in the U.S. House and Senate. [3]

Activities

The organization allows volunteers to join and create an account on its website to “take action” in one of several targeted states. Voter contact methods used by the organization’s volunteers include canvassing, texting, phone banking, postcard and letter writing, “relational organizing,” voter registration, and social media activism. [4]

2022 Elections

An analysis published by Together We Elect in April 2022 indicated that the group would focus on protecting Democratic-held U.S. Senate seats in Arizona, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Georgia while targeting Republican-held seats in North Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Wisconsin. [5]

The group also released a list of 2022 U.S. House “Races We’re Watching” that included 13 competitive House races, 11 of which were held by Democratic incumbents ahead of the 2022 election, including those of Reps. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY), Henry Cuellar (D-TX), Lauren Underwood (D-IL), and Elissa Slotkin (D-MI). [6]

The group will also be supporting the campaigns of Reps. Katie Porter (D-CA), Sharice Davids (D-KS), and Elaine Luria (D-VA) among others. [7]

Key races listed by the organization also include efforts to unseat Republicans including Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Ron Johnson (R-WI), and Reps David Schweikert (R-AZ) and Steve Chabot (R-OH). [8]

Affiliated Organizations

Together We Elect coordinates with several affiliated Democratic political action committees and voter projects to target key congressional races. The group is a national partner organization of Field Team 6, a pro-Democratic get out the vote organization comprises of dozens of national and local Democratic voter projects. [9]

Other organizations connected to Together We Elect include Movement Labs, Activate America, Force Multiplier, Progressive Mass, Movement Voter, Swing Left, Left of Center, Elect 535, Sister District Project, They See Blue, All In for North Carolina, Action Together NJ, Lean Left, MA Flips PA, Rockhills Coalition, and the Washington Indivisible Network. [10]

Together We Elect also has partnered with Trusted Sources, a data collection group that pools voter outreach data collected by the group so it can be used by other pro-Democratic organizations. [11]
