Retire Career Politicians is a political action committee (PAC) that claims to support the campaigns of political candidates running against incumbents. 1 In the 2024 election cycle, it spent extensively in the regular election for U.S. Senate from Nebraska, spending over $9.3 million on behalf of independent candidate Dan Osborn and over $7.2 million opposing Sen. Deb Fischer (R-NE). The group also made six-figure expenditures on behalf of two minor candidates for President of the United States. 2
In 2024, Retire Career Politicians received donations from several left-of-center organizations and Super PACs including $330,000 from Civic Truth Coalition, 3 4 $800,000 from Sixteen Thirty Fund, $500,000 for Institute For Responsive Government Action, $75,000 from Stand Up PAC, and $50,000 from Institute of Wellbeing. 5

Retire Career Politicians made expenditures supporting or opposing the 2024 campaigns of several political candidates. According to OpenSecrets, in the Nebraska U.S. Senate regular election, it spent $9,236,682 on behalf of independent candidate Dan Osborn and $7,142,158 opposing incumbent Sen. Deb Fischer (R-NE). 2
Also in 2024, the PAC spent $392,451 supporting the presidential campaign for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and $220,370 supporting the presidential campaign of Libertarian Party candidate Chase Oliver. 2

According to Federal Election Commission (FEC) data compiled by OpenSecrets, in 2024 Retire Career Politicians received a $330,000 grant from left-of-center organization Civic Truth Coalition. 3 5 The PAC also received a $55,000 donation from Super PAC Civic Truth Action. 3 4
The PAC received donations from other left-of-center organizations including $800,000 from Sixteen Thirty Fund, $500,000 for Institute For Responsive Government Action, $75,000 from Stand Up PAC, and $50,000 from Institute of Wellbeing. 5
In September 2024, Retire Career Politicians received $100,000 from hedge fund executive Donald Sussman and $15,000 from Phoebe Gates, daughter of Bill Gates. 6 7
Other 2024 donors to Retire Career Politicians included Organizing Empowerment Project ($500,000), Global Impact Social Welfare Fund ($300,000), and Movement Voter Project ($500,000). 7
Leadership
Retire Career Politicians’ treasurer is listed as Christopher Koob, who also was treasurer of the super PAC Civic Truth Action. 8 9 10 Koob has previously worked for organizations affiliated with the Democrat Party including the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC). 11
