Nick Begich (R-AK), Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ), David Valadao (R-CA), Gabe Evans (R-CO), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), Zach Nunn (R-IA), Tom Barrett (R-MI), Tom Kean Jr. (R-NJ), Mike Lawler (R-NY), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Ryan MacKenzie (R-PA), Rob Bresnahan Jr. (R-PA), Scott Perry (R-PA), Jen Kiggans (R-VA), and Derrick Van Orden (R-WI). 5
In October 2025, the National Republican Congressional Committee pressured TV networks to alter three television ads produced by Environmental Defense Fund Action that targeted Republican U.S. Reps. Scott Perry (R-PA), Derrick Van Orden (R-WI) and Tom Barrett (R-MI). The NRCC accused the ads of containing misleading accusations that the lawmakers had forced one-quarter of nursing homes to close due to Medicaid cuts. 6
In March 2025, the NRCC received backlash for referring to U.S. Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-NY) as an “illegal immigrant” in a post on X. Rep. Espaillat and his family came to the United States from the Dominican Republic illegally when he was a child, but he later received U.S. citizenship. 7
In 2021, the New York Times criticized the NRCC for sending mail to Republican donors that included the threat: “If you UNCHECK this box, we will have to tell Trump you’re a DEFECTOR.” 8
In September 2020, the NRCC was criticized for spending $250,000 on a TV ad claiming that then-U.S. Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-NJ) opposed the existence of the sex-offender registry while he was working at Human Rights Watch. Malinowski denied being involved in the organization’s stance on the issue. 9
In 2019, the NRCC was also criticized for using divisive language. According to a CNN report, “The group has attacked congressional Democrats as crooks, losers and liars, and given them sobriquets reminiscent of Trump’s own tweets attacking his rivals.” 10
In 2008, the NRCC discovered that its former treasurer, Christopher Ward, had embezzled about $724,000 from the NRCC between 2001 and 2007. In 2010, Ward was sentenced to prison for 37 months, and after a civil suit, the NRCC paid a $10,000 fee for filing false paperwork. 11
In April 2025, U.S. Congressman Richard Hudson (R-NC) was elected as chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee by the House Republican Conference. Rep. Hudson has served in the U.S. House since 2013, first in North Carolina’s 8th District and then in the 9th District starting in 2023 after redistricting. 12 As of 2026, Rep. Hudson was considered to be a conservative member of the U.S. House, with the right-of-center Heritage Foundation giving him a policy rating of 94 percent, compared to a Republican Party average of 85 percent. Rep. Hudson has supported President Donald Trump, including the president’s efforts to interfere in the voting process in the 2020 presidential election. 13 14 15 Rep. Hudson’s wife, Renee Hudson, was the former chief of staff of former Trump White House official Kellyanne Conway. 16
The National Republican Congressional Committee has claimed that most of its funding came from small-scale donors giving between $25 to $50 per year. 17
In the 2024 election cycle, the NRCC raised $236,307,296 and spent $219,752,100. 18
