Kate Lubin is the daughter of Richard K. Lubin, a co-founder of the investment firm Berkshire Partners and founder of the Richard K. Lubin Family Foundation. Kate Lubin is a trustee to the Lubin Family Foundation. Kate Lubin grew up in Newton, Massachusetts and is the daughter of Richard K. and Nancy Lubin and sister to Emily Woods. 1 In 1986, Richard Lubin was one of five co-founders of the investment firm Berkshire Partners. 2 In 1987, Richard Lubin founded the Richard K. Lubin Family Foundation of which Kate Lubin is a trustee. 3
Kate Lubin married Glen Sutton in 2008 and has two daughters, Estella and Sylvia. 4 Lubin sits on the board of directors for Horizons for Homeless Children, a nonprofit in Massachusetts that seeks to provide services and end family homelessness. 5
Kate Lubin previously worked as the director of donor engagement at the United Way of Massachusetts Bay. 6 Lubin resides in West Palm Beach, Florida but continues to have ties to the Boston area 7 and holds a bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College and a master’s in social work from Simmons University. 8
Richard K. Lubin Family Foundation
As a trustee for the Lubin Family Foundation, Kate Lubin is listed along with donations made on behalf of the Lubin Family Foundation. 9 The Lubin Family Foundation made a donation of $1 million toward construction of an inpatient building at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center—the same hospital at which Kate Lubin gave birth to her daughters. 10
With the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, in 2023 the Lubin Family Foundation awarded four inaugural recipients of the Lubin Family Foundation Scholar Awards to physician-scientists pursuing cancer related research. 11 In 2020, Kate Lubin through the Lubin Family Foundation donated at least $20,000 to the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network in Boston. 12
The Richard K. Lubin Family Foundation, with Kate Lubin listed as the benefactor, donated between $75,000-$99,999 in 2023 to the New England Conservatory of Music. 13 In 2016, the Lubin Family Foundation donated to the Nantucket Cottage Hospital for a new hospital building. 14

In 2024, Kate Lubin and Glen Sutton made a donation to the Horizons for Homeless Children Spring Gala. 15 Kate Lubin and Glen Sutton made a donation in 2023 of between $10,000 and $14,999 to the United Way of Palm Beach County, Florida. 16 Kate Lubin and Glen Sutton have donated to Seed Global International, an organization that trains doctors, nurses, and midwives around the world. 17 In 2021, Kate Lubin and Glen Sutton were on the host list for the Big Papi Boston Heart Classic to benefit the David Ortiz Children’s Fund. 18 In 2017, Kate Lubin and Glen Sutton donated to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay. 19
