Geoffrey Bauman is a San Francisco-based Democratic Party donor and activist.
Nonprofit Involvement
Bauman worked for Slide Ranch, a Marin County organization that promotes weather-dependent energy like solar and wind power. 1 to children and teenagers 2 3 and asserts that systemic racism is responsible for many of today’s environmental and social ills. 4
Bauman sat on the board of Earth Share of California, as treasurer and finance chair. 5 Earth Share directs workplace donations through payroll deductions to left-leaning organizations including World Wildlife Fund, Natural Resources Defense Council, Sierra Club Foundation, and EarthJustice. 6 7
Bauman and his late partner, Abigail Myers, were listed as donors to the Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center in 2006 8 and 2009. 9 The Center advocates for the development of more low-income housing. 10
Political Activities
Bauman has been listed as the treasurer of the Bernal Heights Democratic Club since at least 2017 11 and has been involved with the club since at least 2009. 12 Bauman donated a total of $38,600 to the unsuccessful campaign against the recall of San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin in 2021 and 2022, becoming one of Boudin’s largest donors. 13
Bauman endorsed David Campos, a former San Francisco supervisor, who lost a bid for California State Assembly in a special election April 2022. 14 15 Bauman frequently donates to candidates who run and political committees that support campaigns against less-left-wing Democrats in primaries, including Jessica Cisneros, the Squad Victory Fund, and Justice Democrats. 16 Bauman donated to the presidential campaigns of Bernie Sanders in 2020 and 2016. 17
