Anne T. Bass is an American philanthropist who is married to billionaire entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist Robert Bass. She is the director and president of the Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Foundation, which contributes millions to health, education, and performing arts programs, mainly in the Fort Worth area.

In the 2020 election cycle, Anne Bass and her husband contributed heavily to Democratic candidates and committees with the goal of obtaining a Democratic majority in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.

Education

Anne received a B.A. from Smith College in 1970 and an M.L.A. from Stanford University in 2007. 1

Philanthropy and Board Memberships

Anne is Director and President of the Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Foundation, which has total assets of $90,931,569. 2 It was established in 1985 as a private grantmaking foundation. 3 The foundation funds health, education, and performing arts programs, mostly in the Fort Worth area. 4 In fiscal year 2018, the foundation showed contributions, gifts, and grants of $7,225,001. 5

Anne Bass currently sits on the boards of several performing arts and education establishments. She is chair of the Texas Ballet Theater in Fort Worth and a board director for the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Foundation, Inc. 6

Political Contributions

While most Texas political donors supported then-President Donald Trump and the Republican Party, Robert and Anne Bass donated $3.5 million to Democrats in the 2020 election cycle. 7

Per Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings, Robert and/or Anne Bass made 133 contributions totaling $3,353,750 to Democratic candidates and committees in the 2020 reporting year. Of these, $1,742,980 were in Anne’s name. Many were contributions to individual Senate and House Democratic candidates from several states for the 2020 election year. Other major contributions included $1,245,000 to the Senate Majority PAC , $200,000 to the Women Vote! PAC, and $35,500 each to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), and the Democratic National Committee (DNC). 8

Anne Bass also contributed to Women Vote! PAC, which seeks to increase turnout among Democratic women voters. 9 It is affiliated with EMILY’s List, a federal PAC that is focused on electing pro-abortion Democratic women. 10

Anne contributed $10,000 to the Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump PAC. 11
