 Anita Whitehead is a corporate executive at Big Four accounting firm KPMG and its charitable wing, the KPMG Foundation. Whitehead is the board chair of Global Impact. 1

Education and Early Career

Anita Whitehead graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and from Indiana University at Indianapolis with a master’s degree in health administration. 2 3

In 1992, Whitehead began working as a care manager at Sunrise Senior Living in Sterling, Virginia. In 1995, Whitehead began working at a doctor’s office as a medical records assistant. In 1996, she left both jobs to become a financial analyst at the Indiana University School of Medicine. In 1998, she transferred to the George Washington Medical Faculty Association to work in a similar role. 1 3

KPMG

In 2001, Anita Whitehead began working at accounting firm KPMG as a manager in the firm’s risk advisory services. In 2007, she became a senior manager for international development assistance services. 1

In 2010, Whitehead became KPMG’s managing director of development and exempt organization practices, while in 2016, she also became principal of social impact at the firm. In 2021, Whitehead also became the president and chair of the KPMG Foundation, KPMG’s philanthropic organization. 1

KPMG Foundation

The KPMG Foundation is the philanthropic arm of KPMG. It makes much of its grantmaking through matching-contribution programs with KPMG employees. One of its largest recipients is Global Impact, which distributes the Foundation’s donations to various disaster relief funds. 4

According to its 2022 tax returns, the KPMG Foundation contributed funds to the nonprofit arms of several colleges and universities within the United States. These included Abilene Christian University, Tulane University, Arizona State University, Auburn University, Northwestern University, and George Washington University. Contributions were roughly under $30,000. 5

That same year, the Foundation made grants to several charitable organizations including the American Cancer Society ($50,000), Big Brothers Big Sisters of America ($525,000), the Eskenazi Health Foundation ($50,000), Girls Who Code ($75,000), Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City ($7,500), and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund ($25,000). 6

Board Seats

As of 2025, Anita Whitehead is the board chair for Global Impact, a project of Global Impact Ventures. She is also the chair of the corporate service council for Points of Light, a volunteerism nonprofit founded by former President George H.W. Bush. 7 1

Whitehead previously sat on the boards of the Association for Corporate Citizenship Professionals, the Association for Corporate Contributions Professionals, the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, and the Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington. 7 1
