Everyone Hates Elon

Background

Everyone Hates Elon formed in early 2025, according to its own account, as an informal gathering of a small number of London-based friends who had collaborated on political campaigns for several years prior. The group’s founders cited Elon Musk‘s involvement in British political affairs, including his public support for far-right activist Tommy Robinson and a gesture at the second inauguration of President Donald Trump that critics claimed resembled a Nazi salute, as the catalysts for the collective’s formation. Musk denied that characterization.2

Members have chosen to remain anonymous. One founder, speaking to the Hollywood Reporter under the pseudonym “Emma,” cited Musk’s history of legal action against critics and activists as the reason for maintaining anonymity. The group describes itself as “just a handful of people working to piss off Elon Musk one small action at a time.”2

Everyone Hates Elon does not appear to be registered as a formal nonprofit or charity in the United Kingdom. It operates instead as a loosely organized collective, coordinating primarily through social media and conducting fundraising through an independent crowdfunding platform.

Campaigns and Advocacy

Everyone Hates Elon’s first major public action was a February 2025 guerrilla poster campaign in London, in which members installed parody advertisements for Tesla vehicles. The posters carried the Tesla wordmark alongside the parody tagline, “The Swasticar,” a reference to the gesture Elon Musk made at President Donald Trump‘s inauguration. The campaign attracted significant media coverage and social media attention in the United Kingdom. ²

In February 2026, activists affiliated with the group drew international attention when they entered the Louvre in Paris and hung a photograph of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, a British royal who had been stripped of his titles over alleged associations with Jeffrey Epstein, taken following a police questioning, captioned “He’s Sweating Now.” The action appeared intended to mock the British royal family and draw a connection to Musk’s political associations in the United Kingdom. ³

On May 3, 2026, on the eve of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala (known as the Met Gala), for which Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sanchez, were named honorary co-chairs, the group projected a series of messages onto the exterior of Bezos’s Madison Square Park luxury residence in New York City, including “Boycott The Bezos Met Gala.” The group stated that it opposed Bezos’s involvement in the event due to Amazon’s workplace conditions and the company’s contracts with U.S. immigration enforcement agencies. The projection later moved to the Chrysler and Empire State buildings. ⁴ Earlier in 2026, the group collaborated with Greenpeace International to unfurl a protest banner at Venice’s Piazza San Marco ahead of Bezos’s wedding with Sanchez. ⁵

In the United States, the group has worked alongside comedian and anti-Trump activist Rosie O’Donnell. ²

Funding

Everyone Hates Elon conducts its primary fundraising through a campaign called “People Versus Elon,” hosted on Crowdfunder.co.uk. The campaign invites donors to contribute as little as one penny each time Elon Musk posts on Twitter, which the group noted amounted to approximately 2,000 posts per month. As of 2026, the group reported the fund was on track to reach £150,000 (approximately $190,000 USD) through regular donors. ⁶

The group states that it directs proceeds to causes it characterizes as those Musk opposes, including organizations that support transgender individuals, immigrants, and refugees, as well as groups it describes as working against racism and fascism in the United Kingdom. ⁶
