WomenLift Health is a healthcare advocacy group that focuses on gender-related policies and pushing for “gender equality in leadership.” 1 The group has regional hubs in North America, India, and East Africa. 2 WomenLift Health is a fiscally sponsored project of the New Venture Fund, a nonprofit managed by consulting firm Arabella Advisors. 3

Programs

WomenLift Health claims to provide funding towards programs and initiatives meant to empower women in the health care industry by advocating policy changes on pay equity, paid parental leave, and other areas. 4 WomenLift Health also operates a Global Conference Podcast Series. 5

The Leadership Journey

WomenLift Health’s primary program is the Leadership Journey, a 12-month leadership training program for mid-career to senior-level career women in the health care industry The program has regional hubs operated by WomenLift Health in North America, India, and East Africa, each with their own Leadership Journey program, with mentoring and coaching sessions. 6

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)

WomenLift Health has claimed to make Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) a priority, noting that 86% of its Board members “identify as women,” and that it encourages topics of discussion among its Leadership Journey training program such as “power and privilege by virtue of your identity,” or if you are a “mix of other intersectional identities.” 7

Funding

WomenLift Health is a fiscally sponsored project of New Venture Fund, and is under the umbrella of New Venture Fund’s nonprofit status. 3 WomenLift Health is also sponsored by the Gates Foundation. 8

People

Amie Batson is the president of WomenLift Health. Prior to joining  the organization, Batson served in several positions at health advocacy nonprofit PATH (formerly Program for Appropriate Technology in Health) including the chief strategy officer and vice president of applied analytics. 1 Prior to this she held a joint appointment with the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF.  1 9 She previously worked for the World Bank, and is also a fellow at the Center for Global Development. 1
