Women Forward is a Democratic-aligned digital outreach organization formed during the 2020 election as Women for Biden-Harris, which supported efforts to elect Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election. In late 2020, the organization shifted its purpose to support the policies of the incoming Biden administration as well as other Democratic politicians. The group rebranded as “Women for Harris Walz” in 2024 following Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 election, and rebranded again as “Women Forward” following then-Vice President Kamala Harris’s loss to President Donald Trump. Since the 2024 election, the group has coordinated several messaging campaigns targeting the second Trump administration and was among the hundreds of Democratic-aligned groups that participated in and organized the June 2025 “No Kings” protests against the second Trump administration. 1 2 3
Background
Women for Biden-Harris was founded in 2020 by Jill Nash and Claire Conway. Nash was reportedly motivated by the success of the 2012 presidential campaign of former President Barack Obama with social media, as well as Stacey Abrams’s Fair Fight Action organization, to create an entirely online digital outreach organization to support Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election. By November 2020, the organization had developed a base of over 725,000 users connected to the group’s network. 4
The group used its network to lead phone banks and other get-out-the-vote efforts for the 2020 Biden presidential campaign, and inspired offshoot groups, including a large Women for Biden-Harris effort in Pennsylvania that received national media coverage. 5 Following Biden’s election in 2020, the group hosted a “virtual inauguration celebration” on his Inauguration Day. 6
2024 Election
In 2024, the Women for Biden-Harris was rebranded as “Women for Harris-Walz” following then-President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race and Vice President Kamala Harris’s assumption of the Democratic nomination. The group hosted weekly phone banks and other get-out-the-vote efforts throughout the country in coordination with state and local Democratic parties. 7
Ahead of the presidential debate between then-Vice President Harris and then-former President Donald Trump in September 2024, the group hosted “a pre-debate call to continue galvanizing support for the ticket and pushing for record-setting voter turnout.” 8
The group has maintained that it is not formally affiliated with any campaign, calling itself “an all-volunteer, grassroots organization.” 3
Post-2024 Election
Following then-Vice President Kamala Harris’s defeat in the 2024 presidential election, Women for Harris-Walz rebranded as “Women Forward” and stated plans to continue organizing on behalf of Democratic candidates with the goal of electing “Democrats up and down the ballot.” 9
In 2025, the group explained that it had also built partnerships with affiliated groups including Young Women 4 US, Military Community Women Forward, HBCU Women Forward, Women Lawyers Forward, the Women of Color Coalition, DemCast, and the Grassroots Collaboration Project. 3
Women Forward was among the hundreds of Democratic-aligned groups that participated in and organized the June 2025 “No Kings” protests against the second Trump administration. 1
Policy Advocacy
Women Forward has supported the For the People Act, a bill that would strip state government powers over regulating election administration. The group has also supported the far-left PRO Act, which would make it harder to leave union membership, and supported the Biden administration’s American Rescue Plan. The group also signed onto a statement published by the left-of-center Indivisible Project, urging the U.S. Senate to pass gun control legislation. 10 11 12
