The Labor Force is a left-of-center advocacy group that partners with labor unions to organize activist campaigns. 1 It has organized campaigns opposing right-to-work laws and supporting laws giving unemployment benefits to union members who are on strike. 2

The Labor Force helped organize protests opposing the enforcement of immigration laws by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) under the Trump administration in Los Angeles, California in June 2025. 3

Background

The Labor Force is a left-of-center advocacy organization that campaigns in support of labor unions. 1  It has partnered with Sports Solidarity, Trader Joe’s United, Blue Bottle Independent Union, and Carolina Amazonians United for Solidarity and Empowerment (C.A.U.S.E.) to campaign in support of union organizing campaigns and other union activities. 4

The Labor Force accepts donations through ActBlue, and it was not registered as an independent nonprofit organization or political action committee as of July 2025. 5

Activities

The Labor Force is a partner of “No Kings,” a coalition of over 197 left-of-center advocacy organizations and 70 Democratic National Committee affiliates that organized protests nationwide to oppose President Donald Trump on the day of the Army’s military parade on June 14, 2025, commemorating its 250th birthday. 6 7

In June 2025, the Labor Force published a blog post advocating for people to participate in the No Kings protests. It recruited protestors by stating it is “taking action to reject authoritarianism.” 8

The Labor Force opposes the Trump administration’s efforts to enforce immigration laws and use of the National Guard and military to respond to the 2025 riots in Los Angeles. 3 It advocates prohibiting the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement from engaging in workplace raids and any increases in funding for ICE. It partners with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), United for Democracy, Progress America, Common Cause, and National Campaign for Justice to campaign in opposition to immigration enforcement. 9

In June 2025, following the arrest of SEIU United Service Workers West president David Huerta for allegedly interfering in law enforcement activities, the Labor Force organized protests alongside the SEIU calling for the release of Huerta from federal custody and prohibition of enforcing workplace immigration enforcement. 10 Huerta was arrested during an investigation of suspected immigration violations when Huerta, among other activists, were protesting the raid for taking place at a business and was arrested for impeding an officer. The Associated Press attributes the protests in response to Huerta’s arrest with the protests that led to the June 2025 anti-ICE riots that resulted in the National Guard and Marines being deployed to quell them. 11

Following President Trump’s second inauguration, the Labor Force published a blog post opposing the Trump administration and Elon Musk for challenging the National Labor Relations Act. The post advocates for people to write to the governors in support of policies that would allow union members to receive unemployment benefits while on strike and to oppose right-to-work policies and captive audience meetings. 2

In partnership with the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) federal-worker labor union, the Labor Force opposes the Department of Government Efficiency and the Trump administration efforts to reduce the federal workforce. It calls on union members and other supporters to sign its petition opposing President Trump’s executive orders to reduce the federal workforce. 12
