Springs of Revolution is a radical-left faction within the Democratic Socialists of America. Springs of Revolution emphasizes anti-imperialism, and the group adopts a strong anti-Israel stance. Much of Springs of Revolution’s platform is concerned with the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, to the point where the group states that Palestinian nationalism is its “compass.” 1
The group claims that it studies and has participated in “prior springs of revolution.” The group claims these springs include the Gaza encampments, the No Votes for Genocide campaign, the 2020 George Floyd demonstrations, Stop Cop City coalitions, Occupy Wall Street, and the Arab Spring. 2
Background
Springs of Revolution is a far-left faction within the Democratic Socialists of America. The group describes itself as a “practical, forward-facing revolutionary program.” Springs of Revolution states that its main goal is to build the DSA “into a mass revolutionary force.” 1
The group describes itself as “students and veterans of prior springs of revolution — from the Arab Spring and Occupy Wall Street to the George Floyd uprisings and Student Intifada.” 1
After the 2025 DSA Convention, Springs of Revolution had four members associated with its program on the DSA’s National Political Committee (NPC), which the DSA describes as functionally its 25-person board of directors. 3
Platform
Springs of Revolution’s platform within the Democratic Socialists of America is primarily concerned with “agitational mass organizing” and building a revolutionary movement within the DSA. The group also advocates for a more local-centric organizational model to be implemented within the DSA, with more of the dues that are collected from members being put towards local chapters of the group. 1
At the 2025 DSA Convention, Springs of Revolution saw two of its proposed resolutions passed. The resolutions were “R22: For a Fighting Anti-Zionist DSA” and “R26: Fight Fascist State Repression and ICE.” 1
“R22: For a Fighting Anti-Zionist DSA” committed the DSA to establish an “Arms Embargo Steering Committee” and support local chapters of the DSA in efforts to campaign for divestment from Israel. 1
“R26: Fight Fascist State Repression and ICE” committed the DSA to establish a national Abolish ICE campaign, supporting local chapters of the DSA in campaigning for “abolitionist demands,” and increasing the DSA’s support for DSA members facing what it claims is state repression. 1
DSA
Springs of Revolution is composed of members of the far-left Democratic Socialists of America, a social-welfare and political advocacy organization that claims to have over 80,000 members nationwide. 4 2
The DSA asserts that the “capitalist economic system is the cause of violence, unemployment, and a climate crisis that poses an existential threat to life on earth.” As part of its platform, the DSA advocates that large businesses should be subject to government ownership and control. 5
The DSA also demands taxpayer-funded public higher education and the cancellation of all student loan debt, an end to the “War on Drugs,” universal government-funded single-payer health care, the abolition of mandatory minimum sentences and cash bail, an end to all economic sanctions including those imposed on Venezuela and Iran, voting rights for noncitizens and those with a criminal conviction, and a reduction of the Supreme Court’s power of judicial review. 5
Furthermore, the DSA advocates increased access to abortions and increased access to sex-change procedures. The group also advocates for unrestricted migration and access to social services for all migrants. 5
