EveryAction is a nonprofit management software used by left-of-center groups and Democratic Party-affiliated organizations. 1 Since 2021, it has been part of the Bonterra Tech platform of nonprofit management solutions. 1

EveryAction was launched in 2014 by Democratic Party-aligned political-campaign-software provider NGP VAN, which operates a get-out-the-vote (GOTV) software tool that has been described as “nearly every Democratic campaign’s primary tool for voter engagement.” 2

After receiving an investment from venture capital and private equity firm Insight Partners in 2018, EveryAction began acquiring smaller companies involved with left-of-center donor management, fundraising, and activism efforts. 3 In 2020, it acquired Mobilize, a volunteer management tool for Democratic campaigns and organizations. 4 In 2021 it acquired Salsa Labs, a donor management and digital marketing software company which, as of 2025, is a standalone brand under Bonterra. 5 1

Background

NGP VAN, EveryAction and their subsidiaries were acquired in 2021 by Apax Partners, a private equity firm originally founded by Democratic Party donor Alan Patricof. 6 7

Apax Partners combined NGP VAN, EveryAction, and other companies and tools it had acquired to form Bonterra Tech, a platform to utilize left-of-center nonprofit management tools. 6 8 Bonterra’s website claims its services are “built on EveryAction” and that “EveryAction is the unified core that powers Bonterra’s Fundraising and Engagement solutions.” 1

At the time of its launch, Bonterra LLC was valued at $2 billion. 9 It claims more than 170,000 organizations use its services as of 2025, and that it has supported the solicitation of more than $18 billion in annual giving. 10

According to its website, Bonterra has advocated in favor of, and reported its commitment to, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles and similarly-aligned partners. 6

Activities

Anti-Tesla Activism

In March 2025, former Wall Street Journal investigative journalist Asra Nomani posted on her X (formerly Twitter) page a list of organizations that were allegedly involved with #TeslaTakedown, a series of national protests against electric car manufacturer Tesla over its CEO Elon Musk’s involvement with the second Trump administration. According to the post, the listed organizations had used EveryAction to organize the protests and other anti-Tesla activities. 11

Indivisible Project

As of 2025, the left-of-center organization Indivisible Project has reportedly purchased a license for every state and local-level Indivisible chapter to use EveryAction’s fundraising and donor management tools. 12
