D-HUB is a project of the left-of-center New Venture Fund, which is managed by Arabella Advisors, a major conduit for dark money donations to left-of-center groups. ³

D-HUB is a community of so-called “democracy defenders” who work together to defeat organizations and individuals the group identifies as authoritarians, both online and offline. ⁴ D-HUB claims the best way to stop authoritarianism is through a connected global community, and it strives to create an online environment to connect these “democracy defenders” and learn from prior mistakes to drive results. ⁵

D-HUB coordinates strategies, supports individuals involved in similar activism, and supports like-minded organizations and movements that are dedicated to defeating authoritarian forces. One way in which D-HUB does this is by connecting its members with individuals who previously have faced similar challenges. ⁶

The organization supports its members by connecting them with experts in the field, building strategies to confront whom it considers authoritarians, running network and exchange programs to connect activists, and running capacity-building activities to train new groups. ⁷

Membership in D-HUB is screened, and individuals and groups can create profiles if they are committed to democracy around the world. The organization is connected with the left-of-center Action Network to facilitate connections. ^{8 9}
