Background
The Chamberlain Network is a left-of-center activist group that claims to organize U.S veterans for policy advocacy. 1 Founded in July 2024, the group is a fiscally sponsored project of Policy Impact, a left-of-center incubator that hosts similar activist organizations. 2 3
The group advocates for using “equity” towards organizing community engagement for veteran activists while “educating” the public on “democracy defense.” 1 It claims that its veteran activists have “spearheaded initiatives” to defend “democracy” as well as “relocated and resettled at-risk Afghans” and worked with “human rights, religious, and refugee organizations.” 2
Activities
The Chamberlain Network is one of more than 350 organizations that make up Democracy Forward’s Democracy 2025 coalition, a political network that advocates “disrupting” the actions of the second Trump administration through legal action. 4
As of February 2025, one of the Chamberlain Network’s activist campaigns was the “United Pledge for Peace,” a petition effort that aimed to collect signatures from “veterans, elected officials, and Americans” standing in opposition to alleged threats against “our democracy,” including “political violence and divisive rhetoric.” 5
Leadership
As of February 2025, the Chamberlain Network’s main staffers included Christopher Purdy, former director of Veterans for Americans Ideals (VFAI) of outreach at Human Rights First and a member of the Evacuate Our Allies Coalition; Amie Kashon, a former information center manager for the Afghan resettlement program at Human Rights First and a chief initiatives officer at the Pacific Council on International Policy; and Pete Lucier, a former head of the veteran advisory council with Everytown for Gun Safety as well as a head of the people’s council for Courage in America. 2
Members of the board include VFAI founder Scott Cooper, operations director at Hire Heroes USA and Atlanta city councilmember Jason Dozier, strategic communications analyst at SAIC Crystal Ellington, former CEO of Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara Jennifer Faust, founder and leader of Immigrant ARC Camille Mackler, and chief security officer of #AfghanEvac Jeffrey R.
