Americans for Prosperity Alaska (AFP Alaska, also called Alaska Americans for Prosperity) is a grassroots organization that aims to create more freedom and prosperity for Alaskans by empowering citizens to participate in the legislative process. AFP Alaska promotes policy priorities at the state and local levels and advocates for no new taxes, more health care options, a state government spending cap, and educational choice. 1
AFP Alaska is the Alaska state chapter of Americans for Prosperity (AFP), a libertarian advocacy nonprofit associated with billionaire businessman and philanthropist Charles Koch and his late brother David. AFP engages in direct grassroots lobbying events as well as educational programs, policy research, and activist training. 2 AFP has state chapters across the U.S. that mobilize right-leaning grassroots activists and fund independent expenditures for some Republican state-level candidates. AFP’s advocacy work is supported by the AFP Foundation, which provides policy research, educational materials on public policy, and trainings for the millions of grassroots activists in the AFP state network. 3
Activities
Americans for Prosperity Alaska is an organization that promotes freedom, opportunity, and prosperity by “building a bolder, better Alaska.” AFP Alaska states that communities need to work with the legislature since Alaska frequently sits on the bottom of most state rankings. 1 As of early 2026, U.S. News & World Report places Alaska at 49 in its overall rankings of best states, with its lowest ratings in the categories of education (49), infrastructure (46), and economy (45). 4
AFP Alaska plans to engage with communities, empower coalitions, embolden activists, and influence public policy that can transform Alaska. Its policy priorities include creating more health care options, establishing a state-government spending cap, opposing restoring “defined benefit” pensions for state workers to protect the Alaska government’s financial stability, and advancing educational choice.
